I'm seeing people post 10W30, 15W50, 20W50. Personally, I wouldn't even recommend them on a higher mileage 1.3L. The recommended oil is 5W30. Use of heavier grades is going to induce a lifter tap, particularly at cold start-up. I learned this the hard way. I'll not put 10W30 in it again. 5W30 - it is!
I've had it explained to me that the 1.3L lifters have an unusually small oil hole that supplies oil to the lifter internals. From there, its commonsense to use the recommended oil.

You might check out this thread.

I just called Priority Suzuki (local dealership) they informed me that they use only 5W20. Go figure!

And I'm taking Priority Suzuki's recommendation and going with the 5W20.

Are you kiddin' me?
I used to do small engine work - lawn mowers and stuff. Once, this guy called me up to tell me somethin' was wrong with his mower. He actually held the receiver up to his running mower so that I could trouble shoot it over the phone.

I'm an experienced rookie. I could be wrong, but I think I have a handle on what questions to ask and I'm not too manly to read the instructions or seek knowledgeable outside assistance. (Even if its from my wife and means reading the road map!) I have worked with some people that make me feel like I know what I'm doin'. Worked with others that I step back and watch - in awe!

I heard them. Perhaps, only 1 or 2 of them, but I heard them.

I've gone through all 4 pages of this thread looking for the weight of oil you are using. Maybe, I'm blind, but I haven't seen it. What weight are you using?

Hey sorry for way way late reply lol...
I used 10w30... but just had my first service!! £140 not bad..

But guess what they gone an done.. put 10w40!?!?!?!?!? and esp when winters coming? they also gave me a litre of shell helix plus 10w40 :s

if it does induce lifter tap is it permanent? or just fixable using lighter weight.
