They're probably having to change configurations to comply with varying Safety & Emissions Regulations in each country.

so in some ways vehicles made for other countries possible could be faster/slower than others.

Ive noticed engine layout is different aswell, so best buy cars in countries with less regulations!! haha

I'm sure some of it's emmissions and safety but the weird stuff like folding or non-folding mirrors, dimming instrument lights or not etc etc just don't make logical sense and often you find the wiring is there for "both" options, still think it's weird.

Cheers

Yes ...if your country allows import of the model variations ...here, we have both the Suzuki Forsa & (U.S. equivalent) Chevy Sprint ...and later the Suzuki Swift & (U.S. equivalent) Geo Metro.

By the way ...while we're considerably off the topic of "OIL" ...it's really nice to see the increased participation in the Forum and more owners of our various models offering advice and tech-assistance to each other, based on their prior experiences.

You should be able to see Oil Filter on engine block when looking up from under front bumper. Sorry I don't know P/N but since your car is nearly new, any auto parts store should carry them (the little parts store in my small town still carries them for '87 Suzuki models) ...tell them which model/year (or look-up in parts book at the Filters shelf).

Yeah ...1st time with any car is a bit of a messy job as you get used to angles for the catch-bucket, etc. ...not everything comes out thru the drain plug ...there's still a little around the Filter and about 1 litre inside. Did you get a filter-wrench? If not, you maybe okay with a new car as Filter is likely to be only hand-tight (as it should be) ...sometimes a rag wrapped around it helps with grip. The Oil-change won't give you any performance enhancement ...but great peace-of-mind ...if looked after well these cars are good for well over 150,000 miles. In fact around here most people are very bad at maintaining machinery (cars, boats, etc.) but there are still lots of early models around ...must be at least a dozen '85 thru '88 Forsa just in our small town.

Yeah! haha was a very messy job!!
1stly the drain plug, tried to time holiding it till the last thred of the plug but totally missed it and got it all on my glove but didnt miss the catch bucket.
And the filter is in a easy location! right at the front vertically, but man was that screwed in tight!! made a filter wrench using an old bike chain and pliers ha didnt succeed so gave it a little nudge with a hammer :s tried again, and came off.
Topped it up and feels good to have put fresh oil in! XD

Was suprised how black the oil was, on just 1000 miles!!
Will that be the same with the new oil or will it stay clear for longer?

Thanks for your help!
