bex, its a 1.8L not 1.6L a diff. ISC. (it is a 14ohm diode clamped , ISC , testing is tricky see my page warnings.)
why do you OP thank it needs new one. (what ever it, is )
i'ts a 1.8L sport.
wrong parts, WOW , you are kidding right?
you dont want to do that, you risk burning up a good ECU, ever price, 1.8L parts.
much less find them.. .not easy or cheap.
Please say what it does good and bad,,,, i guess idle but give exact examples
like it idles to fast or too slow.... ?
and actual RPMs
the 1.8 liter has 2 valves, (3 really)
EGR (cause low idle)
ISC (causes low or high idle, if you have air leaks , in the plenum the iSC can loose control easy. and cause high idle , even though the ISC is 100% perfect in all ways, got that?
and the one on top the TB that is the cold start solenoid. the PLUNGER thing,. (this is for starting engine, it MUST retract , does it?
what codes, you never posted the DTC codes..?
a code reader is what $30 and full scan tool like $50.
why work blind? (it's only 1 tank of fuel this tool)
fail mode 4
the 1.8L TPS sensor must hold 0.5v at idle or idle will go nuts.
the 1.8L has idle doohicky on top of the TB, (my v6 does too) this device needs to
be looked at first. if it hangs , hot idle will be too high and the ISC will fail to work right.
this doohicky is called, the fast idle PLUNGER.
here is a photo. (this must retract 100% DOES IT?)
if you can afford to guess, and throw parts, Ill bow to you...
and blowing an ECU to hell, is really, crazy.. idea...... sorry, but it is....
