The Best cheap gear oil for manual trans on Sidekicks
Well i did a gear oil change the other day at a shop and my Sidekick was shifting rough after that. Don't know what gear oil he used so i made the guy change the gear oil out. I used the trusty Coastal 75-90w gear oil and its awesome. At 6.00 dollars a quart its the best your gonna find. My sidekick now shifts smooth and purrs again. Any one looken to change there manual transmission oil or rear end oil this stuff is the best. Theres stuff like royal purple and Lukas out there but thats 15.00 dollars a quart no need. It also a semi synthetic.

IF you use a GL-5 oil in a manual transmission, make sure it's suitable for use with brass & bronze, the so called "yellow metals" - some GL-5 oils use sulphur which will destroy the synchros in the transmission.

Amzoil MTG made my trans. shift smooth as butter. It's GL4/5. Staight GL5 was stiff and hard to shift. Straight GL4 can be a challenge to find. I even went to an oil dist. asking for GL4, their reply was "what that" I seldom trust the guy behind the parts counter anymore, that's after my 42 yrs behind one. Seems it's hard to find one that knows Jacks--t! IMHO
