I also have a lot more manuals uploaded now, primarily for the Vitara but they also mostly apply to US models prior to 1996. I'm gradually uploading my full collection.

I've attempted to smooth out this thread by consolidating the many scattered posts, eliminating dead links and removing any "fluff" comments in order to better have this section serve as a reference library.

If anyone has new links for addition, finds old / dead / duplicated links exist, or has any other input that would improve this thread...post (or PM me or Mod Bex) your thoughts.

A special thanks to Rhinoman, Bex, ORF-Tracker, Ack, Nicolainucleon and others for their contributions to date.

Max

and if outside usa note the body tag. (vast differences exist out of USA, even 3 missing sensors)

My Escudo 16v engine and market code 13 has a G16A engine designation.

When talking to local suzuki dealer the chassis code also comes back to a 16V vehicle.

Same thing with my friends 2 door 16v.
G16A on the tag.

i guess you discovered that G16B is not always 16v like in Europe. ?
Sure can be , and i dont care because the lower fields solve that, in fact in USA we have no G16A/B tags AT ALL, see how different markets use different methods.
This is by import laws of your country. my photos shows just one , Australia, and just that year range.
i have tags on my slide show of EU car, and Santana. , there are more, sunbirds, Pontiac trackers, , and endless list. My point, post the full tag data and we stop guessing.
General South East Asia = code 13, seems that is a special market, "general " is the clue.... thanks for sharing the market 13 oddity.
all this info is arcane to the extreme.... post your tag and i will decode it on my slide show, that why you can have all the find details.

the tag is what it is... a factory build list. and the codes change by market and years. (my page is no where accurate for 33 + markets, not at all, nor will it ever be)
post yours. (a photo )
its an AS-BUILT.
and all can be decoded, its all in the EPC, every code.
the above is just one tag out of like 33 x 5 , markets x motor types.
vast combinations exist world wide, and JDM. and 01 market.
if you dont post this data there will be bad advice and wrong parts ordered.
that is my only point.
here is 1 tag fully broken down off my ID page
read body tag

E13 Escudo
the EPC is weak on market 13
but I see SQ413-L and Vs. and 420s.
and is radically different than used on other markets.
front mounted TB
twin waste spark coil packs
no distributor.

i think G16A only works in EU, market , as seen in the EPC pages, for "EU Europe" yours is under "AS Asia" is are totally different cars,

In Europe G16B is always 16V, G16A maybe 8V or 16V.

Default Autoshop101.com

While looking for an article on GROUND SWITCHED electrical systems, I found a good resource for GENERAL AUTOMOTIVE items. While mostly based on Toyota systems most systems are "close enough" for use on Suzuki's. I haven't read through them all, but the few I scanned though are rather good.

Maine site: Automotive Training and Resource Site

The electrical article I was looking at is: Elec02 Electrical Circuits(PDF) http://www.autoshop101.com/forms/elec02.pdf

Too bad it really doesn't cover the aspects of ground switched circuits I was looking for!

Realfixesrealfast.com has a great tutorial on all circuits, switched grounds, etc., done in video, if you head over to their site. Some great stuff there.

This is an excellent post on the considered 'impossible' tach swap, which I thought might be good here (so it can be found again).

Default ECU wiring diagrams all years

Some excellent ECU wiring diagrams, with thanks to J Benoit for uploading these on to the internet.

For 1991-1995 (OBD1) 8v engines (note that much of this will be the same for 1989/1990, with the exception of ECU involvement with the distributor:

For 1991-1995 (OBD1) 16v engines:

For 1996-1998 (OBD2) 16v engines:
