Default 1998 Suzuki Sidekick roof rack

I'm looking for an OEM roof rack for my 1998 Suzuki Sidekick 4 door JX. I know they are difficult to find, but I would like to know what years would fit my '98? Of course, if someone has one for sale I'd be interested in that too.

Thanks,

Tom

Bex,

Thanks for the response. I guess what I was asking is what years are the roofs the same dimensions as my '98 4 door. I'm still considering having one made, but the one everyone refers to as "OEM" is the one I would prefer to have. If I can find one in a junkyard, or a parts vehicle online I'd like to know if a '92 rack will fit my '98, non Sport.

Thanks again.

Suzuki didn't make a roof rack, as far as I know, so there would really be no 'OEM' (original equipment manufacturer) roof rack for these cars. They are all from 3rd parties....While there are some body differences between the earlier (89-95) and later (96-98) Suzukis, I don't know if the roof dimensions changed. I suppose that the easiest way would be to measure yours, and then compare with the measurements of the roofs you might find in a junkyard - maybe someone else knows about these measurements, if they chime in.

There was/is actually an OEM rack but it's EXTREMELY rare ...

In a lifetime of Suzuki ownership I have only seen two examples, one 2dr, one 4 dr

fordem,

That is actually the one I was referring to. I'll keep my eyes open and maybe do some junk yard diving and who knows?

Thanks for your input.

I also wondered about a factory option. I looked at that other thread, that rack is legit! I am wondering about trying to adapt something off of a blazer or trooper, etc to get a basic set of rails and then figure out a basket. From reading in the other thread, are there factory mounting points already in the roof?

Red,

I don't know about factory mounting points, but I'm starting to lean towards a local welder to make me some brackets that can be bolted through the roof pinch welds with crossbars and then find a basket that will fit. I'll continue to keep my eyes open for other options, but local DIY might be the way to go.

Here's mine for now. I need the rack mostly to carry camping gear. All of my tools and things are stored inside.

Low Range Off Road offers a full length roof rack, including mounts.
