Ok, I know the firing order now, but the distributer is cockeyed and has no numbers on it so I have no clue what the correct order on the cap is even by looking at the diagram.....Also, is it bad to turn over the motor with the incorrect order? I don't want to mess anything up.
Use the two cap mounting screws as a referance. It's the first one to the right of the bottom screw. It's not really bad to turn over the motor with the incorent timming but it might back fire. You have to make sure that #1 piston is at TDC.
Yea its fine to turn the engine over with the starter up it's better to do it by hand to get it right on. 17mm. On the 16v the fan blades are not spaced all the same, theres a space that is bigger so you can get your habd in there.
Yes you can watch the piston thru the spark plug hole and yes it will be easier to turn with the plugs out. I usually stick something inthe spark plug hole like a peice of wire or srink wrap or something so you can see when its at TDC. The 16v crankshaft bolt is 17mm as I remember.
