symptoms: erratic rough idle/very poor mpg/no hot start w/o flooring accelerator/black soot & moisture from exhaust. Trouble code was 44 idle switch circuit. Got part from Amazon $93. Installed in 10 minutes= thanks to 1993mntracker member. It took a long time to find his post, however, so I wasted a lot of time/money throwing wrong parts at my tracker ps mileage= 135k
Code 44 deals with the throttle position sensor. So this means that you bought a new one and installed it? If so, did you calibrate the TPS? It needs to be calibrated when installed. If not, advise, and we can post how to do it.
To be clear, I bought and installed a new fuel pressure regulator. Cleared ECM and now get trouble code 12-all ok. Thanks for your interest Bex. Don't know why I got a code 44 when the fuel pressure reg. was at fault, but there certainly was an idle problem.
bad ground to TPS. that will do that. see my bad grounds page G100 up.
yes the FPreg do go bad, quite often.
with the hand vac tool, is easy to test.
yours was jammed closed, the reg. so fuel pressure was like 55psi.
very bad for engine and bad for fuel pump. (overloads it)
ECU is intolerant to bad FPregs.
