Not quite sure I understand. If you have a misfire code, and then replacing the ECU with a compatible one for your car, the new ECU should also see the misfire, if the misfire is real. When you did the wires, does this mean you put in new ones, or just changed them around?? From your info, it would appear that whatever was done 'cleared' the misfire on 2, but now it appears on 3. ????

I highly doubt it's a ecu issue in a 1996 obd2 vehicle. Maybe the engine is running lean?

the ecu never lies about P0302 unless the timing belt is loose.
so chaining ecu should not fix that, if the #2 injector drivers were good.

which code?, P0302 or that and P0300s???,, need to know all codes thrown.

had misfire on 2 so did plugs, wires, injector and cap now its on 3.
302'a can be.
loose tbelt.
low compression. on #2 , 170 is par.
bad spark plug ,wire or cap.
intake leak near #2 intake port (gasket)
weak injector #2 (swap to #1)
leaking injector #2 (swap with #1) did P0301 pop up?
bad ecu , #2 driver bad, moving injectors it stills #2 fails.
water leak to #2
far worse.........

there is a list of tests. easy to harder. its not unknown.
compression and tbelt check are tops.
do my sneak-a-peek test. is the crank bolt at 94 lbs per TSB?

lean,?
if the motor holds closed loop at idle
and at cruise, it's not lean. see long term trim LTFT , is it near 0 ? if it was lean it would show like +20 trim. or totally out of control.
i bet it dropping p0302 , cruising.
you do know there is a freeze frame page and can dump that and see exactly what motors was doing at the last posted DTC fail.
even speed, load, rpm, maf reading. etc.

Not much of a misfire, if he's cruising at 95mph, and blowing the hood off of his car.....

Of course, Deez, you have a Kick and a Sport in your signature. So which car are you talking about??

it was 302 changed injector out to new one, then got 303. idles good have to take off slow n light on peddel, but goes good once up to 55+. t belt good, did some plug swapin and wire testin and regrounded the pump and gauge in tail light. after all that it went good for a lil bit then started it bs again. its in closed loop, sport in " cause it has a sport sticker on side not the real sport with 1.8 i wish!!
