starts when, HOT OR COLD, you keep leaving that out?
CARS DO LOTS of things, the start, idle, run, drive ,hills, power, and wide open throttle. which ones, are not up to par.? and HOT or COLD.
ok, start by saying, what works and what dont work
motor hot and motor cold?
pretend we are all ASE mechs, and a paper bag over our heads.
we cant start you car or drive it .
so you must say what it does good and bad.?
both the good and bad form a FULL picture.
FYI:
uk 92 8v TBI , unknown type motor. the vin tag was never posted
so with out that fact, my answers will suck..... you do know they put
5 types of motors in VITs, right, in EU? (non used here in USA,so..)
we have our own TYPES. E03 and E33s....
the biggest diff is the DIZZY and as you know, it too can mess up.
Is this a post for IDLE FAIL ONLY? i dont know. unless you say.
if your 800 post?, is about a failing dashpot say so. please.
the long play of Bex classic idle story.?:
when you start a motor cold there are 3 factors for idle air.
IAC cold air supply
ISC ditto
DP= Dashpot.
and DP, the DP holds the throttle open 3mm with keys in your pocket.
does yours do that? need a photo , have 4000 to show.
then when you start the TBI motor the DP is still holding the throttle
open..still.. then in 3 to 30 seconds (water temp based) the DP then
retracks for say 2500 RPM to say, 1500
what is that 1500
its the IAC and ISC working
then as the water temp rises, the IAC closes at 150F, (exactly by my meas.)
then the RPM is controlled by the ECU + ISC. at all times. until a restart.
does this help.
I got a bad idle , cold or hot engine!
all this is covered in the FSM and is arcane but can share it...
there are 3 timings.

the CAM
the Dizzy and the Dizzy advance, you saying ALL THREE were checked. ?
if you need more accurate help, try posting the veh. spec tag , each letter code tells me what you have... of the 33 + markets, no 2 the same... dig?
see my mark there, says Type 5,,,,,,, very revealing that.....
im more that happy to decode your car. so others can see how different they really are.
i no yours is not type 5 carb ,this photo is JUST and example.
