well, it seemed to work! it fired right up and drove. i took it for a drive last night it has a whole lot more power. i got home as soon as my girlfriend did. the first thing i did was a burnout on the wet pavement, then i had to stop because she was yelling at me.

So ten minutes after the test drive? Or is that after torque is complete?

so i had the OBDII scanned at the auto parts store and it came up with EGR faults. so when i got home i began to do a look over of the egr system and i could find it, anywhere. there are no pipes leading off the exhaust header to go to any egr system.

so i'm confused

just one more thing to investigate.

The wonders of JB Weld. That stuff on fingernails is a PIA... alcohol to water it down and make it runny for longer/liquid like applications.

Hehhehe, nice to hear but I wouldn't be stress testing the engine all to much. Drive it like grandma.

x2 grandma it.. let the JB cure more .....
They should make the whole car out of Aircraft Black boxes.
then it lasts for ever,

1997 Geo Tracker, 16 Valve, Manual transmission, 4X4, two door, soft top with AC. the odometer about 150,000 miles.
you mean a code reader ,its not a scan tool
and read, code P0400
the real scan too would have have shown
which of the 2 tests failed.
and if there are vacuum leaks or other odd things wrong ,making the EGR fail.

the EGR on the 97 is complex.
and has 3 paths for failure and 1 more.
1: Electric side
2: vacuum side
3: exh , side
4: and its not bad at all , you have leaks. (400s are red herring here)

I you are lucky , only hole 1 is plugged.
if motor runs ratty, and rich , all paths packed.
