Default Tinted or Non-Tinted Windows?

I am about to purchase a soft top for my 94 Sidekick from EBay and they offer tinted and non-tinted versions of the top. Does anyone have experience with tinted windows and is it worth the extra $20? Thanks in advance for your responses.

I had them on mine... looked good, and allowed for more backseat privacy of stuff when parked so folks are not as likely to want to break in the vehicle.

downside is it makes it significantly harder to back up at night.

Tinted windows may help keep the Temp down
slightly.
As for Back Seat Privacy... I doubt they will be
that Tinted.
Agree with curlcd that it makes backing up difficult
especially if your offroad where there is no additional
outside light sources.
My hardtop had tinted glass and I got a local shop
to put in clear glass in the back window just for this
reason.
My Body Shop buddy loves tinted windows. He says
every time someone with a new SUV backs into a
pole it's $4000 in his pocket...

I chose non-tinted because:

- Street lights are minimal where I live
- I always associate tinted vehicles of the same make and trim with hotter interiors after sitting in midday sun for a while (Source: I live in the Tropics and that is just my observation as incorrect as it may be).
- In my area tinted vehicles gain more attention to thieves as it seems like you have something to hide vs. displaying that there is shit all in your car.
- In my area tinted vehicles are associated with illicit activities so they get more law enforcement attention.

All this said, in my area, 100% tint (more like blackout) on every pane of glass except the windscreen won't actually fail you on your yearly inspection. Though I am sure it is Illegal somewhere in the law books.

Perhaps you also need to determine exactly how they were tinted - if they are done with the tinted overlay on clear windows, the tinting may not last as long as you like - the windows flex, and others have not had great luck with tinting over existing clear windows.

I have tinted windows all the way around my truck an it sucks when your up on the mountain but I love the look but I don't think I'd do it to my geo because I am using it mainly as a mountain buggy its all in what you like. If you like it enough you can get over the fact that it's hard tocbsck up in the dark an just stick your head out the window.. I do it a lot

This cling stuff might help which could be removed when not needed or wanted like winter.
Here is a link - I found the very same ones at a Walmart for $1 less if that matters.

I have been using a rampage top with tinted windows and been happy for the most part with it. My biggest complaints are it is hard to see at night, and dust clings to the soft top windows and this shows horribly on a tinted top. I will post a picture later. Good luck with it.

I just replaced my org with a rampage top with tinted windows.
So far i have zero complaints about the top, i don't mind how dark they are, cause there at least 20% tint.

At least i can see out of the tint, my old top was so rotted, the windows were oxidized so bad i could not see out of them.
