CONTRATS !

ive never seen an 8v center gasket not blown.
they got old and hard, and brittle after 20 years.
then blow out.
id have found it in the clay test. racing with all ports, blocked.
(the process of elimination.)
then off come the TB.
you , know some have the wrong gaskets too.. some PO to cheap to get the correct one.. .is common too. (the holes need to mach up , top and bottom)

I Hope we helped in some small way...

well i decided to make my own gasket after looking at the link that contains the gasket pics http://www.kickfix.ac-vw.com/fresh-a...asketkit8v.jpg the gaskets i took out looked different., for example the tb base gasket did not have that long arching cut out in it, it just had one hole in the end.. and that long arch thingy on the bottom of the TB. was 100% packed full of what looked like egr stuff... completely clogged. and the 5 small holes in the bottom of the TB.. what are thoes for because i noticed that the 2 vacuum ports on the side of the TB (points at LF wheel) thoes ports are connected to thoes 5 small holes some how.. the holes in mine were all clogged, so weren't the vacuum nipples, all clear now.. but what doesn't make sense... the gasket lays flat over those holes... so wtf are they for?? they are completely closed off. (at least my gasket covered them) so ok and the center gasket.. mine has a 2 weird scoop things that look like they direct air flow a bit.. not sure why? but again.. from the pics the gasket does not have these 'scoops' over the ports.. the new gasket just covers them up. so i said F it and ground down my throttle body so that the port is now connected to the bore, top and bottom of the flat new gasket... like Suzuki intended it, rather i did right or wrong... well see what happens. and i have a new base gasket on the way., so yeah looked like the tb was all stopped up... egr gunk? dont know.. here are some pics.

rolled over today 100,000miles. then the nag eng light came on...

but yeah the things ive drawn on in the pics means i have no clue what they are or what they do... thanks!

refr this slide show:
Throttle body air supplies - Image 3 of 37

one by 1.
photo 1 and 2 , sure its busted (your new mid gasket seems very good.
photo 3 the thermal IAC, closed hot open cold. put make sure its closed at per
my page on topic, and open in a pan of 160 to180 F water.
photo 4 (isc/iac intake port, no matter, it must not be blocked.
yes, the magic of the bottom gasket, some most be open others closed

the kit, seen in the graphic below.

see that,
that kit is for A/T cars with 2 bottom gaskets.
the A/T car has heater block. so uses 2 gaskets.
when you removed your TB it should have been obvious to you which gasket
was on the bottom.
i revised my photo. and slide show to add these facts.
one gasket does not get used.

LAST AND BEST. IS MY SLIDE SHOW. LOOK BELOW AND CLICK THIS LINK.
see frames, 3,8,9,13 , answer every question.

ranger that is my post there and that is 3 servers ago.... long gone... LOL !
if the ECU hunts the ISC, like that post shows (that is a lean engine or , the air leaks are so bad, the ISC can not correct it, so hunts , (The ecu only has 2 choices, give up, or hunt)

now i will inform you on carbs and TB. (yes, they are cousins)
but first.
btw the EGR does that, as does PCV. (the also mix together in a toxic cloud and form gunk)
the 5 holes are blocked (yellow) ( in all 3 bottom gasket these 5 are blocked.
see that? must be so. or it will fail.

in the making of any carb and TB there are what are called Drill'ing's.
Some are just paths and some or nozzles.
some drillings must not be blocked, and others must be blocked. (you must be observant at dis assembly. (no paper instructions with the kit)

the way this is done is with plugs or gaskets.
now the long slot, it dont matter.
the long slot. curved
use the one that came on your car. the full gasket.
if A/T its different.
keep in mind the kit fits 7 years. and 2 different tranny cars.
That is why i never throw away gasket until car runs perfect. i plastic bag them
and save them , just incase i want to look later. when things seem odd.

if you look at my slide show, the A/T base is a heater and has very odd shapes
the funny gaskets match this oddness.
frame 15 , A/T only, ( the kit comes with both , so you need to know which is what)
Throttle body air supplies - Image 15 of 37

this is a top view.
and why the A/T uses the slot gasket, i have not a clue.. (id have to dissect an A/T base to know)

so the manual tranny car is supposed to have the long arch cut out in the gasket??? and auto tranny should be solid and cover the arch? im confised... my gasket felpro p/n 60840 is solid. my tracker is manual trans... i just put everything back together... started it up.. expected it to die when it got to op temps becasue my idle screw is backed all the way out... nope idled at the same 1100 - 1200..... ,JDHGFLIYHDTRLIUEWH FGO78934:><?":""{}}}><><>HNGFVD7H!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! regardless of where my timing is set... the base idle should had dropped... so i bought a t-gun and hooked it it.. have no clue what way is 8* its 0.....10.....0 left or right of the 10 is 8? man if i used the wrong gasket il be pissed... no cpu showed a diff gasket for M/T or A/T stupid epilepsy.. i can't remember if my old gasket had a hole in that arch thing or not.. think it had a hole and the end of the arch but was otherwise covering it. and i lost/misplaced the old gasket. dammit... really peed off right now.. so yeah while adjusting my timing via turning the dist with t-gun.. i can retard the timing enough to lower the idle till it dies... or go the other way and raise it to 1500. id rather have advanced timing for better hp and mpg... but now im confused. when i checked it before i adjusted it, it was bouncing between 2 marks after 10 (right) and 3 marks. is that 12 -13*? thats the way ive been driving it for ever ,any higher and i get ping... ive never had a light before. i just did it by 'ping' at wot under load.

8* is left of 0*, mark the notch in the pully and 8* on the tab then set it, 89 90 metal pcv valves leak and cause a high idle, you should vac test yours.
