Right on man. I wish I had the intelligence that you have to do something so awesome. I bought my tracker as a toy cause I already have a money pit truck but I think I might use the opportunity to learn some things by working on it myself since I'll always have something else to drive.

If anything can be taken from a project like this it is there is no mystery. I will eventually touch every inch of this vehicle just as I had with my Jeep. When I found there was essentially no usable rear seat belts it is comforting to know there is solid steel again. I bought tetanus with an idea of what I was in for. The PO even said it was a "beater". I believe it deserved a second chance at life and so far there is no disappointment.

My budget was $1500 all said and done. All in so far I have $2158.74 which looks to be over quite a bit but keep in mind that includes the parts car, registration and 6 months of insurance. I'm hoping to sell the rear and trans out of the parts car as well as other parts then get scrap money for the rest of the body. I will have a spare engine and other upgrade goodies to put on tetanus.

Happy thanksgiving everyone

Today after turkey I did a few things to tetanus. First was done more maintenance.

Replacing the spark plug wires I found the coil had been damaged.

I decided it was best to replace it... I didn't want it to crumble and leave me stranded...

On went new NGK wires, dizzy cap and rotor...

Also had time to dig in to the stereo system.... omfg...

Front speakers were too large... replacement 4" speakers fit nice and sound great.

All new wires were run to all the speakers. I have 4"speakers in stock location on front and 6" in back mounted to sheet metal. $20 for install kit, $36 for speakers and $13 for speaker wire. I had a nice head unit already so I saved money there. It sounds nice and works flawlessly.

I hope the brake pads and clutch cable arrive tomorrow so I can keep working.

Well this morning was spent cleaning up and painting the wheels before going out for new tires...

Here is an idea of what I have to work with...

Here is after they are cleaned and painted...

After getting the new tires I was informed that tetanus couldn't be aligned because the wheel bearing on the passenger side was loose and the driver side strut was shot... omfg...so after tearing in to the passenger side wheel hub I found monkey fix it thought roller wheel bearings never need to be maintained... the nut was seized and both roller bearings were shot. The rear bearing's cage had disintegrated... luckily the parts tracker had hubs in good shape. I was able to pull of the hubs and struts. I cleaned and packed the bearings then loaded them in to the hub before putting it all back together.

Here are some pics of the speakers installed and the head unit...

Love the positive attitude in restoring the kick. Been that way with the stereo wiring... some idiot did a crap job and wired it up so the stereo worked with key in start position ONLY always clearing saved stations... figured this out the 2nd time of use LOL. Amazes me daily.

It's good to hear that I'm not alone lol

Well the past few days have been spent replacing the axles and overhauling the front brakes. I also repacked the driver side bearings while I was at it. I love the look of old and new!

Here are my new tires hooray!

I changed out the trans and t case fluid and replaced the clutch cable.... glad I did because it didn't look like it was going to last much longer!

Well I took Tetanus to get an alignment. Everything checked out fine so he put her up on the rack...

After a 10 minute struggle out came the torch...

Well I guess it isn't just me

Today was spent using this...

Honestly a bottle of throttle body cleaner and seafoam might do the same thing but the system is easier to use IMO

Also taking the starter apart to clean and lube the internals.

Haven't checked your post out in a while (sorry), and see that you have the same alloy wheels (and in same original condition) as I have. I love the satin black look that you did, it came out really well, and *may* give me the incentive to do mine. Curious as to how much elbow grease you needed to put into the pitted alloys in order to give them such a good finish......
