Ok so I wrecked - TOTALED my 94 tracker. There I said it. Now I'm looking for another one but this time I'm for looking something older, rag top with the fold down windshield geo or zuki I guess it really don't much matter.
My question is what if any parts can I use from the 94 I'm assuming the towbar and reciver hitch should bolt right up along with the wheels but what about things like the cruse control and the AC and the exaust system. At what point did they change the wiring harness to accommodate things like AC,CC,radio I really liked the radio.
On to the drive train, the one I hope to find will be a 5 speed instead of an automatic so what about the transfer case driveshafts front and rearend parts etc.
I had it setup as a toad for a class B motorhome so that's what the new (older) one will be used for, will I still have to do the, stop every 200 miles and crank it up thing?

What trackick has a fold-down windshield? A/C was available from the get go in 89 for all models, CC only on the hard-top jlx. Radio on all but the JA.
Jim
Aww buggar I guess I got my wires crossed somewhere what I need is a suzuki samurai then I can get a kit from rocky road to make the windshield fold down. Now is there a Geo version of thr Samurai I should look for and will the parts interchange?
Thanks

Samurai was a suzuki thing if I am not mistaken. The sidekick is when they grouped together. You might get lucky and the parts will fit but I am gonna say most of the parts are not goin to work. The sami(if pre 91 i think?) is carbed 1.3L...not a 1.6. But if your engine is good in your 94 I would swap it in! good power increase!

DJ's right about the sammy. Sidekick was the mfr(suzuki) brand, tracker was the chevy/GEO rebrand of almost the same car. The Sami was a little smaller, pretty much all directions. Sami was still around in 1994, still with the 1.3L, 66 HP @6000

Like the sidekick, tracker, vitara and Escudo. The Samurai's base name is Jimny. Then you have the Samurai, Sierra and various other names for the different market. They also still make the Jimny today.
The Samurai came with no gas engine larger than a 1.3 and some other Jimny models got turbo diesels and sub 1000cc engines as well as the option of the 1.3.
Folks have swapped in the 1600cc from the Escudo family. I think Rhinoman has done that. I also think that our 5.125 axles have been swapped over because they have more reduction than samurai axles.
Aside from Engine and Axles I can't think of anything else you can or even would want to swap into a Samurai.

Some info on auto to tranny swap here: http://www.suzuki-forums.com/suzuki-...man-hours.html
Your auto ECU will most probably run the manual tranny. Generally, for the easiest swaps, stick with 91-95, make sure that the number of doors are the same, valve number the same (8v or 16v). The 91-93 will not have the EGR thermoprobe that your 94 currently has.
Sadly, if you are sticking with the Tracker/Sidekick, you will have to forget the fold down windshield.
And sorry for your loss.....Presumably YOU are ok, as you are able to post!!
The Samurai only came with a 5 speed manual trans, personally I would look for a later one with EFI. Very little will swap over, stuff like towbars is a no because its a very different frame. Axles and suspension are also very different. What wheels did you have fitted? the stock Track/Kick rims have 110mm of backspacing and the Sammy rims 95mm of backspacing which isn't ideal, aftermarket rims are usually OK. I you have the 8V 1.6 then it will swap in and is a very good mod but its not a straight swap.
I have traillered my SJ but never flat towed it so I'm not entirely sure of the implications othe rthan its quite possible to trash the transmission, driveshaft disconnects are available.
Thanks guys, I'll take all your info into consideration I've kinda got my sights set on the fold down windshield thing so I may be parting the 94 out or selling it outright even with the front end damage there's too much good stuff to just scrap it. Or I may wind up with another one just like it who knows.
Bex, I'm OK for the most part I jamed my right sholder pretty bad so its still a little sore. I T-boned a 1 ton flatbed work truck at 50 mph if I hadn't had the towbar on I might not be here to tell about it.
Thanks guys for all the info. I'm in North Carolina so if any of you are close we may get togather and do some trading.
Mike
