Default Overdrive problems

Hey guys, I did a conversion on my 3 door escudo from 5 speed manual to 4 speed automatic. I know everyone will ask why but it was for my daughter who starts college shortly. I got all the wiring codes and a TCM and the van drives great except for the over drive. When I connect the throttle wire to the TPS variable resistor, all the gears change except the over drive does not engage instead the tach shows that the van is deselecting the 3rd gear and searching for the 4th then going back to 3rd. So I disconnected the throttle wire only now I have to drive for about 15 mins before the 4th gear engages but once it does it works normally until I shut off the van and start it back then I have to drive for about 15 mins again before it works. This thing has me stumped I am wondering if it is the TCC solenoid acting up? All suggestions welcomed. Thanks

redux

wrong TCM
wrong TCM dont match, ECU or year.
inputs to TCM wrong,
wrong TPS (a/t on some years have unique TPS)
inputs to TCM wired wrong (vss2 needs coax, not simple primary wire.
output from TCM fautly (soleniods)

did you do the TCM flash test? for DTC codes.

where here cars. did all thee parts come from.
sorry Axle is correct. IIRC

fix-kick. Even in your link it says the 4 speed auto uses 5.125 axles as well as the 5 speed manual.

As far as I can remember every other site I have seen said the same as well.

Thanks to the kick-fix pages this conversion was possible.. The van is a 1992 3 door escudo ta01w -g16a engine. Transmission is from a 1992 sidekick and tcm is from a 1992 sunrunner. I know it's a mix and swap but I am really hoping to get this thing to work . So far I have wrong axles and I have been monitoring the o/d light for flash codes with no luck.

One more bit of info, I recently had to change my engine after an over heating problem and that donor engine had an automatic transmission attached so the Tps is from an auto tranny. The speed sensors makes sense so then the tcm corrects itself and allows the overdrive to engage? It really is strange to me but so far I am greatful for all the suggestions

The TCM shifts the tranny and TCC "3 solenoids)
so TCM has 3 comm lines to ECU they must cooperate.
tricky that is.

is OD lamp wired.? UP
does it flash as is should. when jumpered
does it flash 12, even when it messes up?

OD flashes now what is do this.

tricky that is. 3 Wire - that will be the ECT ground, the TPS variable and the Tachometer?

does it flash 12, even when it messes up? Light is wired to a led and I have not jumpered it yet, will do that tomorrow and relay my findings.
Honestly Kick-fix if it was not for your detailed web site I would of sold or scrapped the van but after 2 weeks of work its all coming together, thanks again

i do hope you get it sorted but 4speed, is tricky beast.
so i hope if flashes the code for samething easy, like VSS2 dead

did you use a factor harness?
if not what makes you think you can hand wire that weak signal from VSS2 all the way to TCM. (it needs coax)
