Ohh, could be dragging clutch or worn syncro rings.
JTGH can probably shed a lot more light on this...

rough,
as in hard to move lever
grinding,
hard clutch

all gears. going up , going down, on 1 gear.
only hot ,

shifting slow hide problem/
ever check or change tranny lube ever?

not me , i only have questions.
i only know this, cause i used to be a clutch destroyer, in a past life.
i think ive broken them in all ways at least once. truth would make me guilty. how many.
i split tranny's in half a few times too.
dropping the gears on the road. (Renault , then a Spitfire, and last a Olds rocket v8 behind a 35' Cad, stock 3sp mt.) at least.

But Jerry "the truth should set you free".
We raced a BB chevy in a '57 Ford for 10 years, finally breaking the NHRA record for C Altered (unofficially) and didn't break this much stuff...
Racecars - 57 Ford RR

And yes, you should answer all of Jerry's questions about your trans problem, you will find out details you would never discover yourself...
And for efficiency, put it all in one message, so he gets the whole story at once, he helps A LOT of people, so we all respect his time.

I am told is quite common. I changed my gear box oil to synthetic and it has slowly improved over 2000km. A new clutch did not make much difference, but new oil slowly did, still a bit notchy though, but still improving... I hope! When is it most notchy, hot or cold? synthetic oil should help.

I live and learn ! I did a search for this term and get 120,000 hits back using this term, seems to be a common reference...

Check/change tranny oil. This ONLY happens in second? As in difficulty with shift lever itself, or gears.
