Default 96 geo tracker just quit, now wont start

everything was just fine, no sputters, no strange noises. I was very low on fuel. I drove to the station, filled the tank, started it up, drove 20 feet and it just quit running. cranks great, thought it was a vapor lock cause i was so low on fuel maybe i ran out before the new gas got in the line. bought some starting fluid, fired right up, runs for a minute, then died, tried same three times, same result. from filler tube i can hear quiet hum of the fuel pump, under the dash i can hear the on then off again click of the relay. where exactly is the injector?

You must have a 1.6, 16v. Injectors are on the passenger side of the valve cover. You have 4 connected to the fuel rail then into the intake manifold. They have 2 wires running to each. When was the last time you changed your fuel filter? Have you done a fuel pressure test? Are the injectors getting power?

Although my car is quite different ('91, OBD1, 8v, etc.) I had similar experience. Car ran fine, parked it, came back, and no start, just cranking. No CEL light either. For me, it turned out to be one injector wire that shorted out, which fried one transistor in ECU. Three weeks of searching, and 2 ECU's later, found the problem ($2.00 fix, as well). Your symptoms sound similar...so may be an injector issue.;
