I have pulled half shafts before,but not on a tracker. Does shaft clear and come through spendle or does it all have to come apart? thanks....on a budget or I would just replace all of it.

The halfshafts must be removed from the rear side of the hub assembly.

Doing this is relatively simple on the driver side as the halfshaft bolts to an axle shaft flange with three bolts. The passenger' side (or the right side in the UK) halfshaft has a slipjoint that fits into the differential sidegear. Because of this, you have to do more disassembly at the hub in order to remove the halfshaft.

Unfortunately, due to other more pressing (bathroom remodel) projects, I have not integrated all the sections into the main database, so this index is currently the best way to find stuff in the Tracker FSM...

The hardest part is making secure the metal straps that hold the new boots in place. If you have the tools to do it, go for it! Otherwise, buy a rebuilt set and turn in you old ones for the core charge.

Doesn't sound to bad. I would if I could aford it, replace the shaft. I just bought this a few months ago, Just try'in to get things done before the snow flys. At least there will be grease and new boots.....There are no noises(i.e. clicking while turning) coming from them yet. I guess I'll see how bad they are once pulled apart. Thanks for the site and info. Makes it easyer what to expect before tear down. Eather a 6pack or a case a beer. Or go straight to the wiskey....

I just replaced the passenger(right) after an unfortunate hill-climb attempt. I got a re-manufactured shaft for $60. and a few more bucks for some hardware. The strange thing was the core charge of $80.
