So I'm putting in a new clutch in the zuK. I was wondering if there is any maintenice things I should take care of while i'm in there. I'm planning on doing the rear main seal anything else while i'm in there??? Also is there any special tools needed???
nah, no special tools other than the plastic disc aligner that comes for free.
check play on clutch bell rod bushings.
make sure end of tranny pilot shaft is not bad or the slines stepped .
make sure the front bearing in the tranny is good and the seal is not beat out as a result.
Out of the book all.
fly wheel surface not bad. ( look of galling or other non smooth damage)
new pilot bearing for sure.
that is it

Was going to recommend that. I had clutch put in last year... Lovely, lazy mechanic was that close to the rear seal, and didn't replace it. I have been leaking oil there now for a couple of years. Not really too bad, and lovely mechanic advises that due to metal band around seal 'it won't get any worse'. Lucky you are to be able to do this yourself, and do the right job.
Sweet, I did already get the gaskets tho... I got the felpro ones from the local parts store....the coded one from rock auto sounds nice but i couldn't find it....
