When I first start my Tracker, it puts out a puff of white smoke. It does have a little odor, it doesn't smell sweet or anything, but you can tell its from a car. It only does it for a few seconds, and then it's gone. It seems to idle fine; it's kind of rough when I come to a stop, but then it revs up smooth. I don't see any leaks, the fluids seem to be where they should be, and there's no over heating. The guy I bought it from said the engines do tend to smoke a little when cold, but I don't know; he's put alot into this thing, so I'm sure he took care of it. It does have 140,000 miles on it, so maybe it's just getting old? Any suggestions would be awesome, thanks.
Your valve seals are likely to be leaking. But just replacing them may not cure the problem if the guides are worn, it will just come back after awhile.
You are looking at either putting up with it (my GMC has been this way for 5 years), or consider doing an engine rebuild ie, new rings (maybe more), and head job (new valves, guides and seals plus planing the head).
I have 166,000 - not a lot for a '91. There was a thread some time ago about original mileage - there are guys here who have 2x what I have and still going strong.
That's what I'm hoping to get out of mine. The guy before me seemed to take care of it. But that God forsaken muffler....anyone have any good ideas for a muffler...strong sound, but not obnoxious?
Can't help you with muffler - my exhaust is pretty much stock. However would have assumed that the turbo muffler still would have had to be street legal. So make sure that no pin holes, all connections ok, etc. I know that even with my stock muffler, one small hole and it sounds REALLY loud.
no profile.? no good answers possible.
ok, i can tell you that every one sells a cat back exhaust for this car.
but they very by year, Calif. or FED car, 8v and 16v motor and maybe 2door and 4door.

good to practice because as the seller will ask the same questions over again.
1: OEM new. Yes, Suzuki does see parts for old cars (forget GM/GEO)
2: after market.
3: custom. (muffler shop , from scratch, amazing how cheap too)
