Default 92 Tracker fuel leak?

Hi,
I have a 92 geo tracker 4wd 5 speed. I have a pretty sever fuel leak, but only when the pump is on. If i turn the key on, fuel starts pouring, if the key is off nothing happens. Is this a common problem with trackers, or is this unique? I am hoping its just a hose or something, although I don't know how the fuel system on these geo's are routed or setup......thanks for all of your help..it is greatly appreciated.

The pump is in the tank, check for a failed (rusted) line above the tank.

Yes check the steel fuel lines and the rubber lines leading from it to fuel filter.

oh sorry i forgot the motor..It has the single cam 8 valve 1.6. sounds like an easy fix, if it is the lines running the the filter will i have to drop the tank or can i get to it without having to do that? again thanks for all your help, it is greatly appreciated.

i dont know about you, but me?

if i find a gas leak, every inch of the whole gas distribution system gets checked.
after all , that leak , says to me, ice burg,
seeing the tip of the ice burg, is a blessing, an early warning, of far worse.

keep in mind if you live in the salt belt and dont flush fresh water of the tank every day
like above photo shows me doing, you will rust out the whole top of tank.
so common here, not even funny.

ever see a rust spot in just one place, and not some other place?
not often.

Thumbs up

I live in cincinnati, and i dont know if that is in the salt belt or not. I did manage to find the problem though. The fuel filter had cracked right under the input fitting. I replaced it with a purolator filter for $15 ...easy fix took about 25 min. thank you for all of your help on the matter, and for the fast knowledgable (sp?) replies.
