It is rusting under and around the taillights, under the battery, the whole floor front and rear, and the area under the tailgate. The floor is actually separating from the firewall.

Wow! You guys are passionate about these little vehicles. I guess this confirms me saving the vehicle. I will be taking it to the body shop in october or november (whenever the caps get here). 3 month waiting period from Mouser! It will be a cold ride without a top.
Why wait for Mouser? (My favorite supplier...) The cap's size isn't critical, as they are electrolytics, which have a common tolerance of +100%, -50% meaning that a 1000mfd coud be between 500mfd to 2000mfd. Surely you can find something close. (I know "Quit calling me Shirley...)

Thought of that for myself, but then wondered if welding shop knows how to replace all the stuff it has to take off to do the weld, like brake lines, gas lines, etc., etc.

I would bet that they would weld plates on where they didn't have to remove anything for clearance, after all if the plates went under that stuff, it wouldn't fit back where it came from.
They will also have ways of protecting the nearby parts from the heat. Welders are very clever, it is part of what makes a welder able to do their job.

I just got done paying for my wedding so a few months of waiting won't hurt anyhow.
I did find a place that sells rust free body tubs and frames starting at $250. It is aftermarket4x4 out of Chesapeake, VA. I contacted them and hopefully they will have what I need.

A good commercial welding shop (not some guy working out of his garage:-) can deal with any and all of those issues. It's not rocket science. Plus they really know how to weld!! Body shops spend 95% of their time doing bondo and painting, welding is usually not their forte. I'd only go to a body shop if I needed something restored (functionally and cosmetically) to original factory condition. The rebuilt/welded 1/8" diamond-plate strut towers on my VW pickup dont look pretty but they will last forever. $100 out the door (one day turnaround) for a job that the body shop quoted at $1500.

I work with Welding Engineers with a degree from schools such as; Ferris State, Ohio State or LeTourneau University, and they would ALL handle this just fine even if not working as a professional mechanic, as they are, first of all, professional welders. I guess I am luckier than most to rub elbows with these people, but you might ask a local high school welding shop instructor for a lead.

In our area there are small back yard shops that do only floor and rocker panel repair. Most do it as a second job and are very resonable in price. The rust areas you described are normal for these vehicles in our climate. These shops usually advertise in kijiji or craigs list, good luck.
