Exclamation To all those who want to replace stock SHOCKS in rear

I replaced my old worn out 92 Tracker rear 4x4 shocks, stock o.e.m., with a Gabriel hijacker air shock kit today... WOW this kit is no joke. It is totally adjustable, costs 75 @ Autozone, out the door with tax, included the AIR HOSE KIT, which was in itself easy as pie to install....(suggest just chopping off the two nutts on the top of the shock, shock tube was completely gone, u can use vice grips, but it is a pain) starts @ 25 p.s.i. which is already higher than stock, goes to 200 p.s.i. (for some serious off roaders) im tellin you I have them at 25 p.s.i. and I had to adjust my headlights up, cuz they are high.

I would say at 100 p.s.i. my rear was 2 inches higher than stock, had to let em down....Any ideas besides coil spring spacers for the front??? Ideas that are cheap would be nice... my struts are worn out which is a great start but at 150 each side, im out... I need both rear body mounts now too... any help is appreciated..

How much different is the ride with these shocks over the stock ones?

Thumbs up Ride difference

I would say the ride is alot better than it was, but keelp in mind the old shoks were worn so bad, there were no shock tuibes left on the top of the shocks. At 25 psi the ride is a lot more firm, imagine 200.. the rear end holds the road better when turning, no squat during accel... basically all the ride qualities u could ever want.

Thinking of installing coil spring helpers in the front??? Anyone had this done and does it work?

When I just recently changed my rear shocks for the first time, my mechanic advised against going for something that was very stiff, etc. I got the KYB gas adjust. My mechanic's reasoning is that these Trackers are old (mine's a '91) and that very stiff shocks in rear will stress rear of frame, etc. This turned out to be true for me, and on the way home from the shock installation, after hitting a couple of small potholes (that normally would have been nothing for the car), my towbar started to detach. I understand wanting a nice, stiff ride, etc., but at least from my experience, you should make sure your frame can stand the harder ride.
