Talking Coolant

About a year ago my temp. gauge stoped working, ive noticed that when the RPM gaugee is down around 1 the temp gauge goes up. since last winter i havnt put antifreeze in it, i have just been using water. I havent noticed any leaks anywhere and im wondering if its possible that the water is just evaporating from the heat of the engine. Winter is ganna be here soon and i dont want to buy antifreeze if its all just going to leak out. Are there any test to preform? Also is it possible to run your car completly out of Antifreeze? or does it only leave if you drain it or there is a leak?

If you have a head gasket leak you could be burning it in the cylinders (white smoke). Regarding your gauge, the temp. sender could be bad, thats what was wrong with my 91. Good luck

Hi, with winter comming you run the risk of cracking your block due to frozen water. (expantion)
My 89 tracker uesd to lose antfreeze only while driving and showed no sighn of leakage while in park or just ideling in the driveway.
I would suggest that you do a leakdown test and if all is OK ,then its probably just a water pump like mine was.
