Have a 1993 geo tracker 5 speed tranny the bushing in the tail shaft housing is badly worn and is slinging transmission lube and picking up a little vibration in the seat of my pants not bad u joints they are new drive shaft has been checked and balanced does any one know of a source for the tail shaft bushing
the tail shaft has a caged rooler bearing,
and the out spine fits to the yoke assemble of the U-joint.
this spline can also fail as can the yoke, one only needs to do is flex it with hands to see if there is play.
if you need dwg ,just holler.

it is a 2 whelel drive and the bushing I need is inside the tail housing of the tranny it is behind the tranny seal up inside the housing it is supposed to keep the drive shaft true to the spline shaft of the tranny and the inside of the drive shaft
ok the 2wd. an there are NO BUSHING ! (like in some FORD, or the like)
on the 2wd you have a fake transfer case. (allowing many common parts )
the 5sp is a special version tranny that has a long tail shaft that goes thru this fake transfer case and HAS similar parts on the output shaft.
sorry no bushing. but no matter, if its bad, same repair path.
bearing bad, or the sline is bad or you put a new car yoke on an old kick.
newer cars have diff . spine count. never tried that but , maybe......?

It maybe that I am calling the part I need by the wrong name If you could tell me a jest of how to upload some pics I will get some of the area in question maybe that will help explain what I am trying to find
so you now have all parts to see, from the inside of the fake transfer case and prop shaft. just say the number , you have them all now. (cept axle and tranny guts)
noise in this area might be.
u-joints bad.
or the sline. at part #3 above.
or the the output shaft worn.
or the output shaft needle cage bearing is worn.
or the pinion bearings of the rear axle.
to find this (assuming the U-joints are perfect) one must put it on a lift and
using simple stethoscope ($5 tool at harbor fright)
the procedure takes 2 people , on to drive ,other to listen.
this is dangerous procedure. no loose clothing and no long sleeves allowed.
you can get caught in the prop or the wheels.
there are shops that are willing to do this for little money (just diagnosis ).
most guys can just wiggle the parts and say , bad.
no play allowed. the U-joints must be stiff ,not loose and rattlely.

only a seal (35 below) rides out side part 3. above.
the yoke rides on xft case shaft. (splines)
then, this shaft rides in the roller cage bearing inside the case.
part 24 below is the only bearing holding up the tail shaft.
