Angry 98 Chevy Tracker Blowing Fuses

I have a 1998 Chevy Tracker 2 door 4x4. The STP fuse (15amps) which controls my brake lights, horn, and overhead light was blown. I replaced the fuse but when I hit the brake pedal, the fuse immediately blew. I replaced another one, the horn would blow but as soon as I hit the brakes, the fuse would blow. I just bought a new brake switch and installed it. When I put the fuse it, it immediately blows. I looked at the back brake lights and found an exposed wire running off the trailer light wires. I taped it up, stuck another fuse and, and it immediately blew. I'm out of fuses now. I've traced what little bit of wires I can see and don't see any open wires. I had problems last week with my car not starting - started with a jump. Problem was corrosion on both terminals which I replaced - starts fine now. Can't tell when my brake lights went out - someone happened to blow the horn a few days ago to alert me.

Any suggestions?

Default

so stop replaing parts and find the short.
tailer wires , #1 !!!

behind left tail light is the trailer connector.

dont step on brakes its grounded out.

i would first look at the wires behind both brake lamps.
inspections.

i have this nice battery charger that puts out 12vdc or any 5 amp power supply 12vdc.
it pull that fuse that blows and tie my 12v PS to this connection.

id do that the tail lamp socket lamp out.

then power it up. and behold its shorted. now find the short and save the fues.

my Power supply has a meter ,if not add a VM (multimeter)

brake power is feed from the fuse with the green wire. and horn. that is all.
and goes to TCM (tranny puter and cruise if you have 4sp) (sensory.)

the feed at the rear of car is green-white, its grounded and to many place for it to happen. High mounted above spare lamp can short too.

I just wonder where they tapped your trailers.

I do not advocate of shot gunning or guessing or working with out tools/meters/scopes
but I will help you the best I can! I can't see or hear/feel your motor, so consider my answers, in that light.

There are 2 diagnostic paths, one with tools and one without! Please advise which path you wish to take?
