Default Tire size

I have a 2001 Chevy tracker 4 door hard top.I would like to put larger tires on it but I am not sure how big I can go. Will 235/75/r15 fit on my stock tracker .

Not knowing what size you have on there now, 235/75/15 is a tall type tire. They should fit fine. Best way to go about sizing tires up is to go to the tire dealer. Have them roll out the sizes you're thinking and stand them next to the tires you have on. It will give you a good visual, and they can give you some feedback. I've got 245/60/15's on mine.

Greetings: I put 235/75R15 tires on my 1994 Tracker 2WD. However I bouhgt a used set of Tracker 4WD rims which or .5" wider. it seems that 2WD rims are 5" wide and 4WD are 5.5" wide. According to most tire manufacturers this is still too marrow for a 235 tire. Most have a minimum rim width of 6". However by just playing with the air pressure for a few weeks and a wetting down my driveway to observe contact patterns, I can say that my tires appear to fit and track well.
I have had no issues with fender contact or anything else. I pull a small boat and again have had no issue. One word of caution, is make sure to note that your speedometer will not be accurate with large tires, so you will need to figure out what your actual speed is after you have installed them...

Hope this helps...

There always seems to be a bit of a question about the 235/75/15's. I am looking for tires too, so would you think that 225/75/15's would be the biggest without any problem?

Greetings: First let me state that I do not work for a tire store and am only providing my knowledge based on my actual facts. Personally, I would have went with the smaller reccomended tire size however it was $15 per tire higher for the smaller size. It appears that the 235/75/R15 is a popular size for older trcuks and vans. I would think that no matter what size tire you decide to go with, if your rim width is too small, it may cause premature wear and a smaller contact pattern on the road. The guys at the tire store by my house were very willing to mount a tire and see how it looked on the rim. If ai am not mistaken 194/75/R/15 was the original size on my Tracker, but when I got it it had 205/75/R15 tires on it. I researched this board and there is a lot of info on tire sizes. it seems that the 235/75/R15 is a popular swap for the Tracker. Good Luck...

I know a few people that have 235/75R15 on the older style tracker but I have the newer style like the Vitara. Does anybody have 235/75R15 on the newer body style.

Ah, didn't notice the 2001 Chevy in your original questions...You are in the wrong forum - this is just for the vintage Trackers/Sidekicks, 1989-98.

Sorry . I wasn't aware this forum was for vintage. I will try to get my answer somewhere else.

I think what Bex meant was that there is a forum for the 99+ models. Suzuki Vitara, Grand Vitara & XL-7 Forum (1999+) - Suzuki Forums: Suzuki Forum Site
