Default 96 tracker motor swap ?

I have a good running 94 motor. are the blocks the same? can I just swap head? the 96 run but when you first crank it it has piston rattle and smokes. thanks, Randy

Lets see how much I have learned from Jerry

96 is OBDII engine and computer. 94 is OBD1. To do swap you will need computer, and harness from 94 to swap into 96. 96 is better for diagnosing CEL and all. If possible use another 96+ for your swap, much less work, unless you like idea of changing computers, harness, different sensors and all

Also, all 96 is 16v motor. 94 can be either 8v or 16v. Are they the same?

thanks, for answering. I didnt want to swap computors, thats why i was wondering if could use the 94 block and put the head off the 96 on it, and still use the computor in the 96. thanks, Randy
