Default 95 Tracker Blown Up.

Tried towing my 95 tracker 4 down I think I blue something up, wont start acts like the batt is dead but its not.
I followed the directions in the book for towing I think i probably didnt have the transfer case in netural but anyway what would blow up??

1995 tracker 4x4 man. hub 5 speed.

If i get a car with auto trans and auto hubs can i change the auto hubs to man hubs so i can tow it on all 4.
Thanks for your help
Rich

sure you can put manual hubs on it,and WARN sells them, or get used tracker Kick hubs.

you towed it but did not follow the book.
need the book , i have a 95 book in pdf. free.

never trust any hub to unlock unless you perform the maintenance in the book.
it needs 15k inspections, or at least once every September.
they can sieze. in the locked position.

if you towed it in gear , all sort of damage can insue.

start buy turning things by hand,

motor , and both prop shafts in double neutral. see what you got.
wheels off the ground , check for siezed hubs.

do you know how to do this?
cheers.

I did follow the book I must have done something wrong , I put it in 2nd. gear and the xcase in netural (possibly done wrong) My hubs do not work,(possibly the problem)
I had them apart and cleaned them springs are broken, waiting on the new one`s to come in .
Thanks for the link I will try it to see what is broken, It might be less costly to buy another veh. rather than fixing it.
Thanks, Rich

not really , you can find a xfr case for cheap
even a tranny.
not like those expensive $1500 plus automatics.

i bought 2 and swapped parts.

lets now work the squack , wont start.

do your head lights work.
and
did the stater motor engage and make a sound, any at all,
like CLANK stall !

yes, then put car in neutral and put 17mm socket on your ratchet and try to crank the motor. if it cranks 1 revolition easy (feels like sterring mud)
then trouble shoot the starter.
hand crank the motor KEY OFF.

what does it do?

lets hope for best. for all I know battery is dead.

there are 5 methods for towing this car based on hardware.
A,B ....E

your car is method A and C.
towing from front is A.
1:key to accessory positon. not locked steering.
2: release parking brake.
3: 2nd gear in 5sp tranny
4: xfr case to Neutral.
5: manual hubs to free.

stop driving every 200miles (300km) and
touch no shifters and with chutch in , start car,
then let clutch out.
then rev motor for ONE minute. this puts lube in the right places.
my 96 books says "will be damaged" if you ignore above last rule"

that is the procedure for locking hub cars, 4wd, 5speed.
need owners manual just ask.

btw you never told the method you towed it. num wheels on ground or what end you pulled.

all are diff.

my 96 op guide is very bad, it says dont tow.
but if you mUST , it then does a bad job explaining it.
eg:
for autolocks , it just says , unlock your hubs, no where does it say how to test if they do.

but you need to do that on your own.
before towing any car , 4wheels on ground. you need to check the hubs , and make sure they are released.
this only takes 5 mins, with jack, one at a time one each front wheel.
if you cant spin the wheel , in 4wd, then its bad. in gear. all around. see my test 4wd page.

id, measure the battery at rest
12.5vdc. if less then charge it.

if battery is for sure good, then do my voltage drop tests , after hand cranking.
see crank voltage test here.
and the cable drop test (after cleaning the ends).
