Ok guys i decided to open a new thread since we were hijacking another one

This should be useful for people wanting to do this swap here is the link to the website that sells the kit to do the swap WEBSITE

let try not to deviate from subject, there is a couple of different swaps out there everybody have different opinions of which one is best i respect that so this is just for VW Diesel engines swap thanks

i would like to see opinions about best way to do,engine choice,do's and dont's

i would like to know which engine is the most desirable based on that it can actually swapped,hp gains without sacrificing to much mpg and that it can be done by the average person salary oh for a daily driver and occasional trail wondering

I can say, any VW TDI is hands down the winer. I drove a VW Beetle TDI and I really wanted one really bad ! It pulls like a VW and is responsive like a Gasoline engine with the quietness and no foul Diesel smell and no smoke. Also, with few cheap mods can be use for Biodiesel.

HP gains.
you have now .
95 hp (71 kW), 1.6 liter, 16-valve engine was introduced , and same torque.

VW diesels.
89 to 148 HP . B5 engine. I4 max is 115 HP and 148 is V6
100 to 180 HP B5.5 engine. 136max I4 2.L, others are v6
B6 engines: 2005 + 105 to 170 all TDI motors

ah,
here

List of Volkswagen Group diesel engines - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

id say you need a 2.0L TDI just to see more HP.
if you need more torque most will do. even a 55kw motor puts out 155ft-lbs of torque.

our motors put out about the same HP and torque, 95 to 98. very close.
so you can see even a small diesel has huge torque.

a non turbo Diesel will be easy to set up.
a turbo is as complicated as putting in a bigger Vitara motor.
2.0 or larger.

My wife owns an 07 VW with a 2.5 L in line 5 Audi engine with a Tiptronic 6 Speed. All the undercarriage is a VW GTI so handles like a poor people Porsche The TDI is common to all VWs so the transmission too.

Any VW that is TDI is awesome. Just need to find one. If you want the power and the economy a non turbo is the way to go, but that is hard to find since all TDIs are Turbo Direct Injected Diesel Hence the TDI...

fancy electronics and good luck getting the 4sp suk auto running.
your is 4sp right.
the TCM and ECM work in cooperation.

i do not know of anyone who knows how to make the TCM happy.

how ever on an other forum , some guy got so desperate.
he did this (swap) (complex but will summize)
new motor, matching ECU. running perfect in ZUK
old moter gone, but old ECU still in car.
he wired those numbers of sensors from new motor to old ECU.
such that the old ecu thought it was running the engine.
key points. CMP, pulses (RPM)
ECT a fixed resistor of 250 ohms. IAT same.
TPS he and to tie in an extra tps to new motor.
vss still connected.

same with a guy how had 1 ecu creating spark the new ecu only fuel.
this because new ecu could not make his cop coils run.
but it is all very difficult to pull off these stunts.

that 4sp is problem.

the tcm connects to many things.

those things can not be dead.
key are VSS IN SPEEDO ,ECT, SHIFT SELECTOR (OK) REAR TRANNY TAIL SENSOR VSS.
the ecu communicate via pin A16 (this can be problem this comm line)
the ECU can send load information to the TCM.
then there is KICK down, on the Throttle.

it is interesting. thinking about 4sp issues. pondering them.
