Default the water pump dilemma...

...bout to do a timing belt job. water pump works great but looks 100 years old. i can afford the ac delco water pump the dealer offers. anyone had any experience with this brand of water pump? I hate aftermarket parts. the GM pump is 208 plus tax. i'm not trying to put 800 into the job. it's a little tempting to just leave the original on, but 171000 miles? it's a little creepy. thanks for any advice. jason...

I just bought everything needed to do it. Quality brand parts. Total = $134.00. Not counting new pump. Try rockauto.com

Part number 1740060813 was superseded by part number 1740060815.

any refr. to 813, ignore as it is superseded.

the engine Pn is on the lower left side of the motor bell housing flange.
just enough be hide collector , it needs a mirror.

good luck.

just dont get a rebuilt. they are a coin toss.

is see rockauto has lowered their prices. what a shock.

nice price on the Beck.

if your pump has 170k on it, that is a testiment to the fine quality of Suz. pumps.

Thumbs up

you guys are my best pals! thanks for saving me so much cash. Auto Parts Software - TradeMotion Dealer Websites is a new water pump? it's a 96 2door usa model, looks to be the 60815. also, the tensioner... should i get the $50 one? gates has a package on rock auto for $26, belt and tensioner. i'd love to save a few bucks, but i wouldn't put any autozone parts that deep in the motor... i'm also not 100% sure which thermostat to put in. thanks again for sharing all the great advice. jason.

sure ive seen rebuilts go to.
but last 3 , the idiots, sand blasted the thing with hugh side grade sand and
destroyed the theated mouting holes.

life is too short for that, I had to sufffer a week down time on all.
diff,cars.
diff days.

one one from a dealer , i paid full price for a new dealer OEM pump
he shipped my a rebuild that was crap.
last part ill buy from him. ( subing out new OEM parts for rebuilts and not telling customer is no excuse, bye bye)

no problem if they have others on the shell and you can look , but here.
they always say, all thats in the warehouse, 2 or 3 days.
sorry , but i have bad luck with rebuilts.

but no everything, no problem with RAYBESTosS rebuilt preloaded calipers.
just them dang WP's
