We got them things around our house by the 1000's. I remember when I was a kid we would go out under the street lights late at night with tennis rackets knocking them out of the air...lol.

We would go out under the street lamps with our baseballs and gloves. We would throw the ball straight up in the air, and as it fell back down to our waiting gloves the bat(s) would follow the ball back down and we would get nice close (but extremely brief) looks at them. And on occasion a very thrilling brush on the forehead by a wing tip.
Thanks for sharing Ole-Boy, I haven't thought about those ball chasing bats in years.

Hey, I remember that type stuff too. I remember the adults coming out to see what we were all doing. It was funny. We had the whole dang neighborhood outside at 10:00 @ night watching. Some of the smokers started flicking their cigarettes up in the air. Same scenario, the bats started following them to the ground and we would catch some of them in butterfly nets just to get a close look. Their sonic depth perception was amazing.
I remember one of the adults was flicking her cigarette into the air. She had extremely long hair. As she jumped it went everywhere. A bat got tangled in here hair, and she freaked. Running all over, screaming and shaking her hair trying to get it out. Other adults had to grab her to hold her still so that they could get it out....lol
