Default rear diff question

I have a small fleet of 94-97 4 door sidekicks, and they all have an electrical unit on the pass. side of the center section on the rear diff. What is this? Any idea? Thanks!

Default thanks, Jerry

OK, but the unit is no where near the brakes, and there are no sensors or wires on the rear brakes,or on the backing plates. This unit looks like an electric motor and is on the center section next to the pinion. This is on my 94. On my 97, there is ABS, and it has electrical connections at the backing plates of the front brakes. On the 94 there are none. I was just curious about it.

That's correct it is NOT ABS, its RWAL , a horse of a different color.

No it is not a motor is is a tone wheel decoder , magnetic sensor.
IT senses rear AXLE LOCKUP not wheels. see?

This is on my 94. (forget 97 , its NOT an 97 ABS)

you sound like a person in need of an FSM.

REAR WHEEL ANTILOCK BRAKES.

ONLY HAS 1 SENSOR for rear wheels , and zip for front. thus the name.

I just should have thrown this up pronto. below attach.

photons are amazing...
