Default 95 Geo Tracker timing belt

Hi everyone,
I have a 1995, 4x2, 1.6, 8 valve, 125 k, 48 state Geo tracker and I have a few questions about the timming belt, also about the 2 other belts which I´m told, are for the A/C, alternator, water pump and fan.
1) Is ther any way that I can know if my timming belt needs replacing? It is under a plastic cover and the mechanic charges quite a bit just to take a look. Are there sings or noises? I don't know when it was the last time it was changed since I don't have the records from previous owner.
2)About the other 2 smaller belts does any one know what model they are? The mechanic told me they were "micro V" and that they would be difficult to get.

Thank you very much, there are not a lot of Trackers in this part of the world so people (mechanics) don't know very much about them.
