Default Oil Leaks / Sepeage 94 Tracker 8V Engine

The engine is coated with old and gummed up oil. The oil also comes from the back side and is all over the tranny. However, does not drips on the ground, so I am assuming that is not really a major problem, just a nuisance.

Since I bought it used might as well replace the Timing Belt assuming that never been done. So during the process, the Valve cover gasket needs replacement and god's know what.

My questions are...

What parts can I replace when I get that far?
I know water pump is one and gasket for it.
Wondering about O Rings and other Doo-Dahs.
By the way, Auto Zone has the Dayco T-Belt for $19.99 where I live

There is a shopping list that I can go by?
I hate to run to the Part Store for some that I forgot.

I have not fixed the Popping Sound / Shaking when the throttle is feathered, but is less now.

As hunch, is possible the T-Belt was replaced and not followed procedure.
I read Jerrys main sidekick page website and has excellent info. The procedure that tells how to change the T-Belt I would guess it wrong. So if any mechanic did it and assumed the belt is like any belt as long you do not moved the camshaft and crankshaft would be ok to install. It could be a jumped by one tooth and that explains the shaking and the popping sound.

Anyway, I am going to clean the injector and go from there too. Could be a combination of things.

belt and idler , minimum.

wp if it looks old.

getting the tension perfect is best way to get long life from this new belt.

cheers.
PS
valve cover gasket.? most likely.on 8v, for sure. on 16v if you plan to check valve clearances and check head torques.

When the oil comes from the back of the engine, is that the O Ring on the distributor?

I have been reading/studying your How Tos and I made a binder with the info that I need. I am going for all 3 of them.

Just ordered the Gasket Fel Pro and the Dayco T-Belt from Auto Zone, will be at the store this evening. I am going to check the timing on it. I have a Timing Light and should be an easy task.

The distributor has a black mark on the back, somewhat faded. If is not factory, some tells me that was messed with. The Timing Check will tell me if I am wrong. If checks out, I will check for the TDC on #4 and see if the Timing Marks aligns. But that will be when I change the T-Belt and back off all the valve adjustments and change the gasket.

Auto Zone does not seems to have the O Rings for the "Dizzy" & Housing. Might check with Chevy or Suzuki. The Viton type, cost more the shipment than the ring itself, but still an option too. Either way, if they are leaky, fixing that will not fix the shakes at idle That can be replaced later without much fuzz.

Default Dizzy o-rings ...

For changing out the dizzy o-rings, there is a photo sequence on this link.

I do have spares of the o-rings, viton (impervious to most fuels/oils). These are from o-ringusa.com, and run $3 for the pair of them shipped within the US. PM me if interested. I bought a bunch, just 'cause the shipping was more than the cost of the o-rings

Dang.... Too late, just ordered 2 of each from that place. I got the 35s and 118s, 2 of each. Just in case I mess up one during install.

Thanks though !

Oh by the way...

When I worked with Aircraft Engines (turboshafts) on Helicopters, we used to use Shortening Compound (aka Crisco) to install packings or anything that was made out of rubber. That can be used too if you do not have the lube on hand.
