Is 1.6 DOHC 16V "better" than 1.6 SOHC 8V?

By better I mean performance wise. A 15 hp advantage sounds like enough to feel but not enough to make a really significant difference, in that it doesn't exactly transform the car. I'm assuming the engines have similarly shaped power bands, but the 95 hp's is just higher. I'm asking because I'm wondering if it's worth holding out to find one with the 95 hp, my instinct is "no, it's not."

Are they the same engine, but with a different head, or are they separate designs? Much interchangeability between them?

For me, the conditions are better. Any engine with the proper care is better in my book

15 HPs on a 100 HP engine is 15% more powerful the same 15 HPs on a 50 HP engine is 30% more, you will notice a 30% increase. The higher the output on a engine, lets say 200% 15HPs is about 7.5% increase.

I would say on these engines that runs below 100HP is a noticeable difference, not for much but you can feel it.

You could take your SOHC and add some off the shelves things here and there and gain the extra 15HPs.
