Default Help with jammed ignition on 95 sidekick

Sorry for posting twice, my other title stemmed from frustration...

I'm a very new car owner and know very little about my kicker.

My problem is that the key won't turn in the ignition at all and it seems like its blocked and not just broken. I've tried lube, jiggling, flipping the switch next to the gear box (it doesn't move either) and everything else friends have told me...

I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and how they got around it (parts ?, $$ ?, etc)

Will it be necessary to remove the steering column?

Any advice is really very much appreciated.

Thx

you tried wiggling the steering wheel while trying to turn the key? steering wheel lock will prevent you from turning the key. if that doesn't work then i would guess you have a bad ignition cylinder. probably stuck or broken tumblers. which would mean you'd either have to get a new one or pull that one out and take to a locksmith. the second choice would be better so you use the same key that opens the door to start the rig.
what exactly did the tow truck driver hit?

if it does turn out the cylinder is bad and you want to get a different one, theres one going for cheap on ebay: Geo Tracker Suzuki Sidekick Ignition, Keys & Locks:eBay Motors (item 280370840132 end time Jul-20-09 18:00:00 PDT)
