Default Oil Change interval

Hi all,

I have a 1996 Sidekick 1.6 16v. I am running full synthetic oil and following the under hood recommended 7,500 mile change interval.
I drive roughly 8 miles to and from work every day for a total of 16 miles.
Should I change my oil more frequently. The oil looks ok when I check the level. What do you guys do?

Oils came a long way since the vehicle was designed.

Synthetic oils can last as much as 15,000 miles. 7,500 is very reasonable or 1 year. Whichever comes 1st.

I switched to full synth a few years back, but still stick with the 3,000 mile change cycle. Prolly wasting money on changing it too soon, but with 101k miles on the '91 tracker I'm hoping to make it last another 5 years without a major failure. Oil changes are cheaper than rebuilds (sticks head back into the sand).

Yeah, oils have changed,so have engines,fi engines with computer control/fire run a lot cleaner than the old carb fed/points fired engines of the good ol'days.
Having said that, the sound of a carb fed v8 still makes my parts happy
