Has anyone ever tried one of the many performance chips offered out there.

This company has a dialable chip they say can improve mileage and I really dought it but they claim it can increase horse power upwards of 50%

dont bother. Its a variable resistor that goes inline of your coolant temp sensor that fools the computer into running richer, well untill the O2 sees it then it corrects itself.

very true, but i have heard of people who install the chip, and disconnect the o2 sensor and actually feel a performance gain at the cost of gas mileage. but ive never seen it on a tracker, id actually be curious how much power you would gain. i like that one you have linked cuz you can essentially turn it off to preserve mileage.

Wow!! 50% Hp gain!! OMG!!.... ummmm: "Snakeoil"
If Suzuki (or any other car maker) could get 50% more with a simple chip, they would. Just think, they'd have the 94 hp 1.6 16v making 141 hp!!, who needs a 2l?? If it sounds too good to be true.... yada yada...

so , MPG is boring. ok

pull O2 sensor plug and see what car does.

it will either run with more power . (drops to 12.5:1 AFR , sucks a little more gas and more low end grunt) oh, and is illegal.
or
it will go to limphome and suck fuel and be dog.

all depends on the year, and what the ECU is doing. (and condition of other sensors)

Not all ECU's are the same ,nor do they behave the same.

to understand this (RU really interested or just want magic?)
read
Jeff Hartmans book, tuning for speed and economy.

best tuners book ever made, If read it 3 times, its so good.

read it and you will not be disappointed.

forgot to say.

buy a piggy back controller and fiddle your heart out.

and please do tell us all about the %50 gain.

we can't wait. ahahahahehehehehheh

there are a 100 things you can do.

some are real simple. too.

like a slower running alterator pulley arangement.
a windage tray.

cheapest of all is your hands, just removing weight from car is the best there is.

On the Suzuki ECUs that I have examined disconnecting the O2 simply disables closed loop operation, the ECU will continue to use the long term fuel trim but not the short term trim. If the engine is in good shape then there will be little affect on the AFR.
Theres no turbo on petrol Zuks so there isn't much to be gained from chipping, the stock ECU is generally a little rich and the timing can be a little retarded but it really depends on what octane petrol you run. If its higher than the minimum quoted in the handbook then you can usually run a little more advance which will improve pickup and mpg.
