HI, bought my suzuki vitara 94 and had some time on my hands so have sorted most probs now apart from, it has an aftermarket stereo which was badly wired in and had a bad earth so i have sorted this but it will not remember anything!! ie stereo settings and radio channels! which is annoying! got told by a mechanic friend to swap the red and yellow wires but after doing this it does remember for a short time but if i leave turned off for say 10mins then start up again it has been reset?! i do have an alarm and immobilizer, didnt know if this had anything to do with it? cheers, ross
no problems starting the car though right? the only other thing i can think of is you either dont have the memory power wire hooked up or its a bad wire with insane amounts of resistance. only other thing i can think of would be the deck itself

i had the same problem no mater what deck i would put in. I just ran a hot power wire from the battery to the player and now it works fine, mine would never save the radio channels, or the time or anything it gets annoying. Try the power wire thing even though you might have a hot wire i tryed the same thing switching them around, but for some reason it just works when i ran a straight wire from battery to cd player.

i used to have the same problem in my 1994 sierra, was like that when i bought it. 3 months later the wire burnt out (car lost all power and blew smoke out around my knees, dnt think ive ever stopped the car that quick since...) but its fine since then. apparently the mechanics only replaced one wire.
point is, could it be a short somewhere?
yeah i think im gonna go with the idea of a direct wire from battery to the stereo but with a inline fuse for safety, just wondering what ampage fuse i should use? im thinking 10amp, will this be to big/small?
Ya, 10 should be fine mine has an inline fuse on my stereo but im not sure asactly what it is im guessin it a 10 or 15 amp. if not a lil bigger let me know how it goes u could try it be fore going through the hassle of puting it through the fire wall just run a long one around through the window and test it to see.

Hi, um ok well im not sure which fuses the dome ones are?! is this the four inside the top left hand corner of the bonnet bay, next to battery? so i can run a wire from this point to power on stereo?
