Default Fuel pump problems

Hello to all

My 1911 Tracker stopped running. As it turns out it is the computer.

A mechanic I know put in a new fuel pump for me, but we had to run power from the battery to the TBI to get it to run though.

As it is such a pain to get the computer out and it is running just fine, do you think leaving it jumped this way would be a future problem.

Hi, I'm assuming you meant 1991? A 1911 Tracker would be a rare specimen indeed!!
If I understand what you've done... UNDO IT NOW!! You risk burning up your injector by hot-wiring it. The coil in them runs on pretty low voltage & 12v will fry it!!
Or do you mean the mechanic hot-wired the fuel pump? Also not a good plan, though can be done as temporary to diagnose.
Check out jtgh's page on ECU, there are several capacitors that commonly go bad & need to be replaced. He also has a link to a guy who does this pretty cheap.

My ECU is bad, now what?
