Default Hey Jerry, got a question for ya.

Was there a distinct difference in the suspension springs between the 2 and 4 doors? As in, were the 4 door springs heavier duty than the 2 door springs? I can't find anywhere that has part numbers for them to compare.

I'm just wondering if it would be a quick and dirty lift for us 2 door owners to swap in 4 door springs.

They probably aren't. I mean, the 2 door Jeep Cherokee springs are the same as the 4 door, mind you they were leaf in the back.

I'm just wanting to get an extra inch or so clearance for when the snow comes around this winter. I've got 215/70's on it now and would like to bump up to 235/75's if I can.

Hrm, after getting a couple of the parts links off your page to actually work (my internet is flaky at times) I've come to realize there IS a difference between the 2 door and 4 door springs.

Hrm....

Yes, I read of ppl using 4dr springs in 2 doors alot. They are taller but also stiffer... I hear the ride is very stiff. Myself I'd go with spacers 1st... but then I'm not a fan of spacers either. Everyone I've talked to about it says the Old Man Emu springs are great... much better ride quality & some lift, though it's only 1.5-2" (depending on how saggy your current springs are). Only downside is they're pricey... last I saw, the kit (4 springs 2 struts 2 shocks) was $699 on LowRangeOffroad. This is still on my to do list.

Actually $700 for all four springs and all four shocks/struts is a good deal. Everywhere I've looked wants over $100 for each spring and the cheapest crap shocks I've found for the back were $20 each. Anything worth buying was up to $60 a shock. I didn't even bother looking at the price of the fronts...

Four door springs are around 175lbs/ft at the wheel, 2-door are around 157lbs/ft. The exact specs are on my other PC but I'm pretty sure that they're the same length.

Rear 173.4 (4wd 250 x 83.4, 2wd 238 x 83.7)
