I am going to rip the carpet off my 94 Tracker. Is old, been wet many times, stinks, etc... you get the picture. I want some less maintenance. For an Off Road vehicle, IMHO, carpet is plain stupid.
I want a spray on liner but also is way too stupid to pay $500~$750 just to spray the Tracker interiors.
Some guys at work suggested me the Brush / Roll on types. They said that works pretty good and you can pick a can from Wal-Mart or ACE Hardware for less than $100 for a gallon (saw one for about $75.00).
My son is going to take it to MN, so I am looking also for durability.
The questions are...
Have anybody had experience with any products of this type?
If so, how did worked for you?
Also, I saw on a Jeep forum some guy that did the outside body that way too. It looked rough, but was on color and is scratch proof ! I thought was pretty unique.
rhino is definatly the way to go. go out wheeling get your rig all muddy and just take a hose and spray it out. just be careful not to cover up the drain holes or youll have a tracker pool. as far as the exterior, cool cool cool awesome and heavy. my friends jeep is 100% rhino lined inside and out. last summer we were out wheelin and he decides to slide into a tree at a pretty good speed. took a chunk out of the tree and the only damage to the rig was a little bark stuck to the side of his rig. also works as a bomb surpressent if your ever worried about your rig blowing up 0_0

I was thinking on Rhino too but got quoted on Line X between $500~$750 if I prep the vehicle 1st. I think is way too much on my opinion. I have not checked on Rhino, but I am afraid that will be close to Line X.
Anyway, one of the guys at work has the spray gun for HERCULINER, he said it came pretty good on his Jeep and made it quieter too.
when you say you got quoted, do you mean for having a shop or somebody line the rig for you? this is a good diy job. pull out carpets and seats and, mask areas you dont want lined and spray or brush it on and dry by the next morning. definatly not worth having a shop for 500 when you can do yourself in a day

I used herculiner on mine works so far. I use mine off road also seems to be working just fine. I used to small cans they were $35 a piece. had plenty to do it but i did just the front and just behind the front seats to where the back seat bolts down.

The key to any of these is PREP WORK!! Clean the area with soap and water. Then use something a little heavier duty, like laundry soap diluted in water. Then use something like Simple Green or some heavy duty grease/grime remover. Then wash it out with soap and water again except this time use a green scrubby (also called a Scotch Brite pad) to rough up the paint surface to give the liner something to grab on to, then rinse about four times.
The more prep work you can do, the longer it will stick.

It said over the phone $500~$750 if I do the prep work. I thought it is way too much. So I am looking into Herculiner.
I asked a guy at work, he will let me borrow the spray gun for it. He uses in his Jeep and keeps the sound down too. That is pretty much what I am looking for.
I have used Gator Guard from Eastwood Co. on previous vehicles with good results. It's cheaper than some of the others but seems very durable. Just comes in black and white I think.
