Default Replaced distributor cap and rotor...

Now the car won't start...what did I do? Seems they both are badly worn, found a lot of dust/sand inside.

Check the old rotor against the new; are they the same? Try the same with the cap. Did you knock a wire off?

ALso check to make sure you pushed the coil wire (center of cap) all the way on. That was an old prank we used to play. Pull the coil wire and stuff a pencil eraser in there, then put the coil wire back again.

or some swapped dizzy cap wires.
did you ever unbolt the dizzy?
did you pull one wire from old cap, then move them 1 at a time or , just pull them all then use FSM to lay them down.
that would be wrong, if last guy timed car non FSM way then the FSM way is now wrong.
always match what you have, ( or start from FSM scratch , dizzy out.)
did you buy quality ign. parts. not china crap, saw a china cap on fleebay for $1.45 what junk that is.

step one put a spark plug/and wire to the coil.
crank it, do you have spark.?

this is always the first way to test spark (no start) at the coil.
FYI:
i saw a china made rotor other day , it was cloned with out the index spring.
could be installed wrong, could just fall off at anytime.
sorry if this is top parts, NGK , Bosch, other top names... Denso,

I pulled the whole distributor, should have just removed cap with the two little bolts.

Called up one of the local mechanics, he'll go check timing, etc; what do ask him to do too? Thanks again

The ground wire for the distributor was not connected... replaced it, crank it up... must be wrong type of wire, the wire's plastic cover almost melted!! Must be doing something terribly wrong now!! I'll close the hood and wait patiently for the mechanic.

NO your mechanic is not electrical savy.

that wire is perfectly ok. (after you repair it) but stop.

what you just saw is ,
Quote:
Electricity follows the least path of resistance
. Classic.

YOU CARS MAIN GROUNDS ARE BAD. stop before you blow up ECU. stop
fix the primary failure.

common-failures

here are your answers.

see 16v section, that is you.

first check

G103 (or can be totally bad battery ground cable , BIG BLACK MAIN BATTERY MINUS CABLE) end >>>. to >>>> end must be 100% perfect.

then check
G100 and g110

THEN MUST ALL BE CLEAN, (NO RUST) AND LUBED SO THEY STOP CORRODING . (use silicon dielectric grease , bet he scratches head....?)

OR CAR WILL NEVER RUN RIGHT EVER.

the one thing suzuki's hate is SALT ,,

the suzuki , uses the body for ground in places (and functions) that are completely dumb. ( vastly better on newer cars)

if you crank the motor and the grounds are bad. the current tried hard to find a new path and sure enough it did.
the wire behind battery can fry, the wires to the fire wall (eng side) and the dizzy ground straps. all can fry.

all fry, as 100 AMPS of current flow thru them. trying to make 2 horse power to crank over motor.

this is so common , i made the page for it.

cheers.

you are ON TRACK !
