sure ,same dudes sell the cotton oil marvel sell OEM style too.

just keep in mind , any change in flow ,nets more dirt.

(that is because surface area is hard to increase over stock , see all the pleets?) oEM.

the only better filter ,is bigger and stops more dirt ,while increasing flow, ( only at WIDE OPEN THROTTLE)

cold air is a different , mind set. which is , how to get free pressurized air.

i have a link to a Miata one that nets 5HP on 1.8L motor , NA. WOT only. on a test track.

140HP becomes, 145HP. on this kick, dont expect that.

if you really could make more flow than stock the ECU would go bonkers. (little yes, lots more, no way for free)

The previous owner of mine put this silly monstrosity on.

Didn't have the heart to tell him it was an expensive bauble that did nothing for the engine (maybe even harm it with more dirt getting in).

I'm going to be modifying a Jeep Cherokee Safari snorkel to fit in on this one. Some day. When I actually have something resembling money....

Since my motorcycle racing days, my theory has always been like this. The air-intake is only so big. It lets just the right amount of air in to keep it breathing right. True, you can add a bigger filter, but the air still goes through the same size stock intake.

Always remember this. Any time you want more air in, you also have to let more air out. So, that means a bigger carburator, and bigger intake/s (hole) in the carburator manifold. By that time you need to go inside the engine. The cam will need more lift and duration remaining open to allow more air through. And don't forget the other end (exhaust ports) will need to be bored out to continue the same volume of air going-in, as going-out. Then comes the bigger exhaust header, the bigger diameter exhaust. Right out to the end of the tail-pipe.

Hopefully I make some sense in my explanation.

Like jtgh is trying to say, it might look pretty cool. But that's all it does. Why waste the cash under the hood when it does no good.

Drive it...maintain it....enjoy it for what it is. Not for what it's not.

Okay. I'll put in M2C... I have to go with the detractors... & as I'm typing this theres an ad up top that says "Guaranteed Horsepower'. Ofc I shant name our respected sponsors. Last I installed a carb on a vehicle was my (now defunct tool shed) '87 Dodge Raider, same as a Mitsu Montero. I replaced the gastly stock electric carb with a Holley Weber. While discussing filter options with the guy I bought the carb from he recommended I go with a paper filter, not cloth. This is a guy who has been building show quality hotrods since they were called hotrods. His words to me: 'They make a great place for the birds to nest once the engine doesn't run anymore.'
I say just use a good quality paper filter that fits the OEM air cleaner. I'm using Purolator Premium Plus in my 16v 1.6 atm (A14869). They call it 'multi fiber' element... it has a cloth like screen before the paper element itself to catch the big crud before the paper. Fits in the OEM cleaner like a glove.
"The Oil Guy' did a review of filters as well, & pretty much came to the same conclusion: cloth filters don't filter as well. Go Go paper!!
