Default EGR Valve / Home Cleaning / Best Method?

I tried a search, and read several threads about this fussy EGR Valve. The troubles this things causes from pollution control (carbon)

IS there an easy way to clean this little bugger at home without ultrasonic destruction? Diesel maybe?.

What works?

I have heard that good old hand scubbing works well with carb cleaner.

I'll get some carb cleaner tomorrow and give it a try.

Thanks GRC1

It depends on your engine as to the methed used. I think the 16v has a metel tube protuding from the throttle body to the engine block and the engine block and the 8v is a tube within the block.
If you have the 16 v you should unbolt where in goes into the block and then clean the thottle body so the build up doesn't end up back in the engine block. Then you can shoot carb cleaner through it.

The gun cleaning rod with a 20gage shotgun wire brush cleaner worked good for me.

As for the 8v..??

Did you already see Jerrys fix it link...lots of good pics.

4 GENS OF VALVES. YOU NEED TO POST THE YEAR. AT LEAST.
ole-boys has a 1998 Suzuki Sidekick JS

ole boy. there are many tests and cleanings. but
top 2 things.
1: stall test (does this work as expected)
2: clean PORT #1 as the photo says 99% fail here. hole 1.

tell us what you have done.
tell us if you have CEL glowing, and do you have P0400 DTC set. tell all the facts,
it can be fixed easy on 98.
see my gen3 page
EGR-problems?
it has it all, every trick.

hijacker. v6 GV.
This is not GV forum, but. that is a V6
and it has a huge intake plenum on top of motor.
at the rear, and on the bottom of it (hidden) facing motor, on right it EGR main valve.
an on the left of that is EGR tube.
cleaning egr is no picknic after 99. sorry.
