Default Oil light Escudo 99 2.o Diesel Japan

Hallo, I live in the dominican Republic. Have an Escudo 99 2.0 Diesel which was imported from Japan. Yesterday the Oillight started to flash, but stopt again. when i slowed down to make a turn it started again for a coupl of seconds but stopt again. I don't trust any mechanic here. So could someone give me an ckacklistche what i could do before going to the machanics?
Thanks a lot!

Edit: No water in Oil, no Oil in Water! Car stood 1/2 hour uphill, 2 min after we drove off Oil light started to blink.

I asume that the oil is at the correct level.

Hi, The first thing I would do in your case is to see if you can check the oil presure manually with a mechanical oil presure gage. If the oil presure is low then you have a weak oil pump or on some motors a pluged oil filter. If not low presure on the oil gage then oil sending unit may be bad.

This should at least get you started in the right direction.
Hope this helps

I have spent a fair amount of time in the Dominacan Republic and just love the weather down there.

x2 on the mechanical guage. Install it in the dash leave it there and ignore the idiot light all together. That idiot light usually doesent turn on untill 2psi at which your engine is already done. My guess is though that the sender went bad because sitting still you get no blinks but driving you do. also the fact that its blinking because it should stay solid on most vehicles

Thanks, I hope i can get and Install that "mechanical guage", because I never ever fixt something.
But will do it as soon as possible.

Meanwhile i was reading other (Oil-light) threads and will also change the oilfilter, maybe its time for that too.

Thanks again, will inform you about the results!
