Default AC is out now..aggghhh!!!

Everything is breaking down on this thing.
First the AC quite blowing cold air but the fan was working..just hot air. I had a freon can in the garage so I decided to try it. No luck..I dont think it took any of it. So I turned the fan on and off a few time and it quit working working too.

I'm going to start with the fuses. Any other ideas?

Default no car spec stated, or year.?

welcome to break down junction.
dont panic , get meter and find out what is happening.

first off , there is a logic module that prevents you from blowing it all to pieces. see? and never add freon ,willy nilly, bad.
called the AC amp. behind glove box.

what fan, the heater fan or the front of car condensor fan?
i will guess at the heater fan.
on bit of logic , is if the fan dont go, the AC cant go. (it will freeze up )
so fix the heater fan, by replacing the Resistor block ,

not saying that is wrong, as we all know other things can break too.
wires, connections ,switches. that is way we have a volt meter.
to trace the path of failure.

check the fuses, you may have blown the fan fuse (big fuse) above left knee.

now if the cab heater fan is spinning and you want AC
look at the compressor
see it.
see the clutch on the end (electric clutch)
if the clutch is engaged, one can notice that the out side pulley is spinning
AND the front inside is spinning too.

if neither are spinning , the belt fell off or is slipping big time.
if the front is not spinning (heater fan and AC must be on)
then the you need to use my schematic to find the problem.

air-conditioner-repair

what is voltage on pink wire on compressor relay.
0v
12v.?

those arrows on my dwg. outward arrow = output
inward arrow = input. on a/c amp.

and voltage on yellow wire ( running, ac on , fan on etc)
if yellow is NOT 12v, then your loop pressure is bad. (need expert)

i can only help you with Sparks issues.

Cool I'll get started on this tonight. It was the heater fan that went out.

I'll be back with answers..

I read your instructions on the link but the heater fan went out since then.

ACDELCO Part # 1533385
TUBE,A/C RCVR & DEHYDR w/A/C MAN CONT(C60); OUTLET, INCLS SWITCH & CAP * Non-stock item--shipping delayed up to 5 business days

RockAuto Parts Catalog

And here it is for...
While we find your parts, please enter your ZIP Code at CSK Auto

Do you know (or could you find) me an item like this CHEAPER? My local junkyards have NOTHING. Now I know why the PO probably did not fix it. I searched high and low. I will even trade one from a Suzuki for a Geo... if someone is in the same boat. I hate the fact they went to this aluminum crap and want so much money. I just need a pipe, my switch is good! Do you think rockauto would sell it w/o the switch?

those links do not work (cept story, should be titled too many cheifs spoil soup)

what are you trying to find, ?

A/C systems today are expensive to buy and fix.

one can only pray loop is good and you have simple elect. failure.

you have only 3 choices for parts
OEM or after market new.
wrecker parts ( or beg here)
make one.

like that article , anyone can make up an AC switch for $5. generic.

some folks drain the Freon and put in Propane or Butane.
must be fun in a collision, huh?

Just like on TV, all cars explode on contact. could be in this case.

mixed blends, bad.

please fill out your profile (or sig) so we can know what the frack car you have.

btw. 95 s came 1/2 with R12 and 1/2 with R134 and the parts are all diff.between them.

please at least tell year.

cheers.

adding freon with no reason will cause the system to go over pressure, when you do that , the H/L pressure switch trips
and no more A/C

do not just add Freon , on a whim.

do not or you may be sorry.

the system works best with an exact weight, of freon in the system.
checking the pressure carefully , using a special chart for such tests. can give one an idea if the system has insufficient freon.

the best course on all systems is to drain it all out. put in fresh by weight. ( and the correct oil matching the correct Freon)

see attachment.

what part?

ACDELCO Part # 1533385

Sorry... this is it. I have a Suzuki but not a GEO/GM (its different). Its part #35 in your diagram Jerry- thanks. Where would be best to find it? I called local junkyards, one MAY have it but do not keep inventory.

Picasa Web Albums - CodyJ - 95 Geo Tracke...

Refer to this... its a line problem(broke from PO) otherwise I would have running AC with this piece of hardware and a good vacuum and charge.

93 or 95

the pressure sw. pn. SUZ, i never buy from GM, there order system is bung.
95
r12 =95526-60A50
r134a=95526-50G10

Jerry it looks like 35 is the pressure switch and the whole red line I have attached. I don't need the switch, just the tubing. Mine broke were it attaches to the little aluminum block.

^ Great example of a Suzuki/Geo difference... hope I am clarifying it more.
