Calmini sells a midrange cam and a header / full exhaust system. I think stock its only 80hp -so if you drop $1000 on mods you just might get to 100.

What MarkB.NV says is so very true. Your motor is just about maxed out right from the factory and to get that little bit more is going to cost you lots of cash. There are the more common things to do such as ,cam ,exust, air breather, ect.

But if you want real HP you need to start with the enternals of the engine. The trouble is that the motor constuction will simply not alow it. And remain reliable. Sorrry but thats just the way it is.

Default snake oil city.

throttle spacer does nothing ( ecu learns it in 5 minutes and zippo) have dyno plots. and many to prove that. see my snake oil page.
chip.

if you can tell me what a CHIP is , ( please do) Fleebay, wow.

notice the brilliant obfuscation there ( amorphous , nebular)

Marketing BS , all.

The trick is to fool the ecu.
tell me what why and how, do you wish to fool the ecu? ( can be spotty)

This is called piggybacking (chip is BS) what do you wish to fool.

You first need to know the ECU is programmed to run in CLosed loop
full time (not W.0.T)
this runs 14.7:1 AFR.

to get cheap power, some ppl force the ECU out of closed loop.
If your motor is tuned and the senors are not bad, you can do this by pulling the O2 sensor.
some ECU's will go to the intrinsic AFR which is 12.5:1.
its illegal but out of the factory it was tuned to do that.

this will give you maybe 5HP.

want more power (8v is low) get the 1.8L and drop it in. 2.0L 2001+ is better.
or
a Grand Vitara V6.

The 8v cant breath and that is why they have the 16v.

the old ECU 91 , can get real upset with bad sensor inputs (piggy backs)
it gets upset and then punishes you with FailSafe mode.
Rich and retarded timing

so fooling it can be like throwing dice.

snake eyes.

Tuning a car without tuning the ECU, is mostly a waste of time.
but you can trim it a little.
Just like in the old carb days, tuning the motor with out rejetting is a waste of time.

same rules, diff, hardware.

or just buy a 4.0L or bigger jeep.
the jeep has more power , out of the box. and lots of potential.

or swap in a chevrolet v6 4.3 engine or a v8 there is a place in Tampa Florida that sells you the basic kit or even do the whole swap for you including crate engines ,if i'm not wrong the latest 4.3 v6 comes from the factory with 200hp and 270lbs torque more than enough power for all your needs ,i personally would opt for the advance kit no engine find yourself the engine there should be like zillions of them in auto salvage places and do the swap

here is a link to the place that do and sell the swaps here

and snap all driveline parts 1 by one.
way too much torque on most of those.

but when young this is fun. breaking things.

seen one with the rear ring gear bent almost perfect arch. cute, for den room.

There is one way to get a bit more power and that is a VW diesel kit.

Other than that I would suggest a power train swap , frame and all. You cut and quarter an exesting 4x4 and drop your tracker body on it. Probably the cheapest way to go.
